Well it’s been ages. Lots has happened but I won’t bore you with it. I’m still playing my horn, still teaching, still reading books and the birds are still singing. Not a huge number of gigs just now, but May looks busier. If anyone’s interested, I have some private pupil spaces – just go to the ‘Teaching’ section of this site (Teaching – Martin Kershaw) and pop us a message. I’ve started putting up ‘Tuesday Tune’ posts on Facebook – I enjoy doing them (gives motivation for getting standards together), and hopefully you’ll enjoy watching them!

Anything else? Well, I’m reading ‘The Complete Enderby’ by Anthony Burgess – thoroughly enjoyable; very witty, naughty and fun. He’s an amazing author – best known of course for ‘A Clockwork Orange’, although his masterpiece for me is ‘Earthly Powers’. He was also an accomplished musician and composer.
Last night I made a trip to the Cameo Cinema for a rare showing of Scorsese’s classic (although not that well known) ‘After Hours’. Wonderful stuff. I love watching great directors going off-piste and showing their versatility like this. It’s a glorious surreal journey through the deep New York night, with an amazing performance by Griffin Dunne (who’s wonderful talent is sadly not really reflected in his CV).
Right, back to the snooker. Will endeavour to check back in soon.
